Where to Eat Near Michigan International Speedway Before Nite Lites Halloween 2026
If you are packing the kids into the car for Nite Lites Halloween at Michigan International Speedway, there is one question worth answering before everybody gets hungry: where should we eat near MIS before the Halloween light show?
For families visiting Thursday, Friday or Saturday, The Deck Down Under in Jerome, Michigan is one of the easiest fits. We are roughly 10 miles from Michigan International Speedway, we have a large family-friendly dining room, we regularly handle groups, and the menu is broad enough that the seafood person, burger person, pizza person and steak person do not have to negotiate a peace treaty before dinner.
The smart Halloween plan is dinner first, lights second. Nite Lites runs from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM in 2026, and The Deck's last seating is 8:00 PM.

What Is Nite Lites Halloween at Michigan International Speedway?
Nite Lites Halloween is a family-friendly drive-through light show on the grounds of Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Michigan. The 2026 route is approximately two miles long and features glowing Halloween characters, tunnels of light and displays synchronized with Halloween music broadcast on 87.9 FM.
This is deliberately not a haunted-house experience. Organizers promote the show without live scare actors, which makes it a good option for younger children, grandparents and anyone who likes Halloween more than they like someone jumping out with a chainsaw.
Visitors can drive their own vehicle through the show or buy a separate ticket for an approximately 20-minute open-air train ride.

Nite Lites Halloween 2026 Dates, Hours and Price
The official 2026 schedule runs October 1 through October 23 on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, then every night October 25 through October 31. Hours are 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM. October 24 is different: vehicles stay out and the Halloween Walk takes over the route.
The 2026 Halloween drive-through price is $30 per carload. Halloween train rides are $10 per person and are offered Thursday through Sunday. The Halloween vehicle entrance is off M-50, while the October 24 walk uses Gate 2 on Brooklyn Road.
Because event information can change, check the official Nite Lites site before leaving home.
Halloween at MIS Is New. Nite Lites Is Not.
The Halloween show is the new branch of a much older Jackson County tradition. Nite Lites began in 1996 at the Jackson County Fairgrounds, where owner and operator John Spink started with a Christmas display roughly half a mile long.
By the time the Christmas show left the fairgrounds, it had grown to roughly 1.5 miles. Michigan International Speedway officials approached Spink about moving the attraction, and the timing made sense. Contemporary reporting from 2017 described problems with mud at the fairgrounds during warmer winter weather. MIS offered a much larger venue with extensive concrete and blacktop.
Nite Lites made its first Christmas season at Michigan International Speedway in 2017. The larger property gave the crew room to expand the holiday show dramatically, and in 2025 the team added its first Halloween drive-through light show at MIS.

Why Michigan International Speedway Works So Well for Nite Lites
MIS is not just a two-mile race track. The property covers more than 1,400 acres and contains roadways, infield space, parking areas and paved infrastructure designed to move enormous race-weekend crowds. In October and December, some of that infrastructure becomes a canvas for miles of lighting displays.
For Halloween 2026, that translates into a two-mile route that feels like a real destination event while still being manageable for families with younger children.
Where Is a Good Restaurant Near MIS Before Nite Lites Halloween?
This is where The Deck Down Under makes a lot of sense. We are located at 11303 E. Chicago Rd in Jerome, Michigan, roughly 10 miles from Michigan International Speedway.
We are a large, casual, family-friendly restaurant. That matters because a trip to Nite Lites has a habit of growing. One family becomes two. Grandparents join. The kids bring friends. Suddenly the party of six is a party of fourteen.
We routinely serve large groups and high-volume weekends, so a group headed to MIS is normal business for us. Reservations are still a very good idea, especially Friday and Saturday.

A Menu That Works When Everybody Wants Something Different
The Deck is seafood-forward, but it is not seafood-only. A Nite Lites group can order oysters, lobster rolls, perch, cod and shrimp at the same table as steaks, burgers, chicken, pasta, pizza and chef-driven seasonal features.
That mixed menu is one of the biggest reasons we think The Deck is such a strong before-the-show restaurant. You do not have to choose a pizza place because the kids want pizza or skip seafood because one person wants a burger.

Can The Deck Handle a Large Group Going to Nite Lites?
Yes. Large groups are one of the reasons The Deck works well for an MIS event night. We have around 200 seats and regularly handle busy weekends. If you are bringing multiple families, employees, a birthday group or another larger party, reserve ahead so we can plan the seating.

What Time Should We Eat Before Halloween Nite Lites?
For a Thursday, Friday or Saturday visit, a dinner reservation around 5:30 to 6:30 PM usually creates the easiest evening. It leaves time to sit down, eat without rushing and make the short drive toward MIS before the 8:00 PM show.
The Deck opens Tuesday through Saturday at 11:00 AM with last seating at 8:00 PM. We are closed Sunday and Monday. If your Nite Lites visit is on a Sunday, you will need another dining option. We would rather tell you that before you put hungry kids in the car.
